TilNeeded™ founder, Rhonda Roland Shearer, has a legacy of stepping up when it matters most. During the aftermath of 9/11, she led a critical charity supply operation at Ground Zero, providing health and safety equipment to FDNY, NYPD, PAPD, FBI, and other first responders (NYT, 2002).
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Rhonda launched CutRedTape4Heroes.org, a not-for-profit effort to address dire PPE shortages. From March 2020 to August 2023, her team distributed over 25 million PPE items to more than 3 million healthcare workers, public housing residents, homeless services, and hospital staff across New York, New Jersey, and Florida (Washington Post, 2020).
The mission of Cut Red Tape 4 Heroes was clear: put PPE directly into the hands of those on the front lines who were forced to work without adequate protection or buy their own for home use. Rhonda uncovered critical insights into ongoing shortages, including the distribution of expired or unsafe PPE to workers. Every delivery was documented through photos and videos shared on Cut Red Tape 4 Heroes’ social media and featured in media reports, showcasing the impact on communities in need.
As a public benefit corporation, TilNeeded™ proudly supports CutRedTape4Heroes.org, continuing its mission to provide free PPE and cleaning products to healthcare workers, first responders, and overburdened communities. This work reflects our dedication to making a tangible difference in times of crisis.
